The best sign in the world

I do like signs and you dear cuddly readers may have noticed that fact.

Signs are (usually) either informative, colourful, useful and of course hilarious, especially when they aren’t meant to be and we, in the main, have people who think that they are clever to thank for that!

Here I aught to offer a special mention and thanks to the Indian, Japanese and the Chinese signwriters who work so hard to misinform in several languages especially English.

I beg to differ Bromely UK

However my favourite sign of all time is this one in a suburb of London called Bromley which is so kind and considerate that it wants to tell us that is isn’t in use.

Actually I have a problem that my dear cuddly readers may be able to solve and it’s this, when is a sign not in use? Surely if the sign is being used to tell us that it is not in use it is conveying a message that says just that and so doesn’t that mean that it is meeting all of the criteria that a sign should fulfil in order to actually be fully functioning or to put it another way ‘in use!’
